Hordern Pavilion in 2027: the venue
The Hordern Pavilion was built in 1924 as an exhibition hall for the Royal Easter Show and became one of Sydney’s defining rock rooms once the show moved to Homebush. Its high, wide hall holds about 5,500 people, most of them standing, which makes it the step between the Enmore and the arenas. Since 10 August 2026 its tickets are sold through AXS, which took over from Ticketek. The 2027 list mixes genres: Sienna Spiro over two nights, Beartooth, The Fray, KALEO, Dayseeker, Max McNown, FKJ, Tove Lo, Malcolm Todd and, in November, Jorja Smith. Its location, a short ride from the CBD and surrounded by the bars of the Entertainment Quarter, is a large part of its appeal.
Hordern Pavilion: getting there and back
The Hordern sits inside the Entertainment Quarter on Lang Road, on the former Royal Agricultural Society showground. The nearest public transport is the Moore Park light rail stop on the L2 and L3 lines, from where it is a 5–10 minute walk through the precinct. Buses along Anzac Parade and Oxford Street stop within walking distance, and the walk from Central takes about half an hour. There is a paid car park in the Entertainment Quarter, but it fills on nights when Allianz Stadium or the SCG also has an event.
Tips for a show at Hordern Pavilion
The floor is flat, so shorter fans should aim for the raised areas towards the sides and back rather than the middle of the crowd. Entry queues can stretch along Lang Road on sold-out nights. The Entertainment Quarter’s bars and Liberty Hall next door make it easy to meet before doors. Cloakroom arrangements vary by event, so travel light if you plan to stand near the front.
