About Afterpay Arena
Built for the 2000 Olympics and opened in 1999 as the Sydney SuperDome, this is the largest indoor arena in Sydney and the default stop for international arena tours. It carried the Acer and Allphones names before a decade as Qudos Bank Arena, and in 2026 it became Afterpay Arena under a five-year naming deal, with new signage unveiled in July and refreshed bars and foyers. Billboard counted it among the world’s five busiest music venues in 2025. In 2027 it hosts the longest arena residency on our Sydney list, Radiohead’s six nights from 25 May, three nights of Sombr in April, two of Bryan Adams in February, and single dates for Niall Horan, Kehlani, Jungle, Evanescence, beabadoobee, The Script and Westlife.
Getting to Afterpay Arena
The arena sits a short walk from Olympic Park station, the terminus of a spur line off the main western line at Lidcombe. On ordinary nights you change at Lidcombe for the Olympic Park shuttle; on big event nights extra trains often run directly from Central, so check the Transport for NSW trip planner on the day. Allow roughly 35–45 minutes from the CBD. Some event tickets in the precinct include public transport travel, so read the fine print on yours. Driving is possible, with paid car parks across Sydney Olympic Park, but the exit queues after a sell-out can be long and pre-booking is wise.
Tips for a show at Afterpay Arena
Most concerts use a standing floor plus reserved seats in the lower and upper bowls; side seats close to the stage can beat a far floor spot for sightlines. The precinct goes quiet after shows, so eat before you arrive or plan on food back in Parramatta, Strathfield or the city. Leave a few minutes before the final song if you need a specific train.
